Kill candida overgrowth with these nine powerful herbs

(NaturalNews) Whether you are battling full-blown candida overgrowth or simply want to prevent future infections from occurring, herbs are a powerful tool for naturally keeping candida at bay. Here`s a list of nine highly effective herbal remedies for candida:

#1 Oregano Oil

The phenols in oregano oil are highly concentrated and extremely effective in fighting bacterial infections, fungal infections and candida overgrowth. Wild organic oregano oil is known to be especially effective in fighting conditions like candida.

#2 Olive Leaf Extract

The oleuropein in olive leaf extract is used by the body to fight fungal infections caused by candida overgrowth. A high-potency standardized olive leaf extract can obliterate candida quite effectively.

#3 Pau D`Arco

Another popular anti-candida herb, Pau D`Arco is often brewed into a tea. Drinking one cup per day is an easy way to harness its antifungal properties.
#4 Garlic

Garlic is a powerful antibacterial and antifungal agent. Candida cannot survive when garlic is present, so consistency is the key. Garlic can simply be added to your normal meals, but most find it more convenient (and less odorous) to take standardized garlic capsules three times per day.

#5 Neem

Used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine, neem is known for stimulating the immune system and fighting infections and fungal overgrowth. It is also a potent detoxifier. Neem oil can also be applied topically as needed.

#6 Apple Cider Vinegar

Not quite an herb (but too effective to leave off this list), apple cider vinegar balances the pH level of your body and can prevent harmful pathogens like candida from growing out of control. A teaspoon to a tablespoon taken before each meal can aid digestion and prevent undigested food particles from feeding candida in the gut.

#7 Echinacea

Although echinacea is best known for stopping a cold in its tracks, this herb also provides anti-candida benefits. It supports your immune system in the fight against candida as well as other infections.

#8 Black Walnut

Black walnut is a natural herb which contains tannins that not only kill fungal overgrowth like candida, but also kill parasites. It may be especially useful for those who suffer from both candida overgrowth and a parasitical infection.
#9 Coconut Oil

Also not an herb, but coconut oil`s anti-candida properties are too powerful to ignore. The medium chain fatty acids that make coconut oil such a great energy source are also what fuel its ability to fight candida. Fatty acids like caprylic acid and lauric acid are potent antifungal agents. Work up to taking three tablespoons of coconut oil per day to harness its anti-candida power.

Note: Avoid jumping into any anti-candida regimen too quickly. Killing off candida too fast can produce a die-off reaction that includes symptoms like foggy thinking, headaches and chills. For some this can be quite uncomfortable. If you notice these symptoms, cut back on your dose and start again more slowly when symptoms subside.

My name is Susan, I’m a chef specializing in natural, wholesome foods since 1994. When I'm not preparing meals for my personal chef clients, I teach a variety of cooking classes and cater workshops and retreats. In my not-so-spare time I'm a tireless reader and information gatherer on natural health!
I began developing the candida cure recipes site, also adding pertinent information on herbal remedies, natural detox and general holistic lifestyle advice in April of 2004, when I first connected my own symptoms with the possibility of candida overgrowth. I researched numerous websites and books, consulted some ‘experts’, and have participated in various forums and discussion groups.
Along the way I've encountered some real "quacks" and some very wise and knowledgeable people. I feel truly blessed to have met a number of inspiring folks who have been such good teachers to me. People who were out there before me, spreading the word about alternative health options - those which go against the conventional teachings in the main-stream media and allopathic health professions. I've learned so much in a few short years, and continue my education to this day.
I'm forever thankful to everyone who has helped me to find my own path.
The good news for you, dear reader, is that when it comes to the common question "what can I eat??", I've learned what works for me and many of my clients - what gets results - which is what you will find here.
"Candida" has become quite a buzz word lately. There's an on-going debate as to whether or not candida overgrowth causes people to experience symptoms of disease. And another debate goes on about which foods are really the healthiest choices to regain balance when candida yeast is out of control. Well, I'm no scientist and I'm not a doctor. But I do know that I've seen a lot of people feel a whole lot better when they follow this advice to overcome candida. Including myself! The proof is in the pudding, as the old saying goes.
Many of the other candida programs out there fall short, either by relying solely on a magic pill, or recommending nothing but a severe diet that is way too restrictive, or foods that sound healthy in theory but in truth, are not.
Other candida programs I've seen fail to take the holistic perspective, only focusing on fixing certain symptoms without considering how the whole body works. That's why this website was born!
Keep in mind that these are all guidelines for your consideration. What works for me may not be perfect for you. But the overall theories presented herein can help anyone make good choices to naturally support a healthy immune system.
So, we can call this site "candida cure recipes" or "natural immune support" or even "common sense healthy choices"!
And we can call this a "candida cure program", or a "natural detox diet" or a "guide to natural and herbal remedies". As long as you're inspired to make healthy choices for yourself and your loved ones then we're on the right track!
It's a continual work-in-progress...
I hope you'll visit the site often. Maybe you'll decide to sign up for the Candida Cure Blog (by clicking the link at the left side of the screen) which will alert you whenever I add a new page or update the information on an existing page.
Or sign up for the Recipe Newsletter (look for the link on the left of the screen) if you'd like to receive occasional notes from my kitchen to yours... Sometimes its a few tips or helpful insights, other times we may focus on some questions and answers from reader e-mails, and there will always be a recipe or two to keep you motivated.
Welcome. I hope you'll find encouragement and inspiration here.
Eat Well, Live Well and Enjoy!
~ Susan
